Cited from VQE and from the glossary entries on Hamiltonians and variational algorithms. The paper analyzes how expectation values of Pauli decompositions are estimated, including the dependence on variance and precision, and it treats unitary coupled cluster. It does not prove that the classical optimizer reaches the ground state in polynomial time.
