The reference for amplitude amplification. Grover's algorithm is the special case of a uniform starting state. The paper also estimates an unknown success probability. Linked from the Grover page and the optimization stub when a quadratic boost is used as a subroutine rather than as unstructured search over a database. HHL uses the amplification on a postselection of probability on the order of 1/κ².
